Packaging for transportation of diagnostic samples

As from 1 January 2003 regulations for the dispatch of diagnostic samples were stressed. As from 1 July 2005 Post Denmark stipulated that all diagnostic samples must be collected and sent in tested and approved packaging tailor-made for the purpose. FARUSA packaging has been in the business from the beginning and today we can offer three different solutions, all tested and approved acc. to the ADR 2007 regulations.

This information page gives you a presentation of these and if you have further questions or would like to try the packaging, please do not hesitate to contact us.

(1) Transport box 650 for road transportation.
Today, this model is used between hospitals, laboratories, private and special clinics in the majority of the Danish regions.

These transport boxes may contain up to 132 sample tubes. They are placed in washable fillings and together with an absorption tissue they are placed in a plastic bag and sealed with a clamp. Afterwards the bag is placed in the transportation box.

The sample tubes must be tested and approved for 95 kPa, if they are used alone. As an alternative the sample tubes may be placed in a pressure tested and approved transportation tube.

The boxes are available in two sizes:
1612A: 300 x 200 x 150 mm for 2 small foam fillings
1612B: 350 x 270 x 170 mm for 3 large foam fillings

Applied for UN 3373 in accordance with the ADR packing instruction 650 and ICAO-TI/IATA/DGR packing instruction 650.

(2) Envelopes for mail

These envelopes lined with bubble foil may contain from 1 up to 8 transportation tubes. The sample tubes are placed together with an absorption strip in the prescribed transportation tube, which is then placed in the envelope, thus following the IATA/DR/ADR packing instruction 650.

The envelopes are available in 2 sizes:
1625: 220 x 260 mm
1625L: 180 x 260 mm

The envelopes are all marked in accordance with the ADR regulations, with the "diamond" in 50 x 50mm and with the text: UN 3373 on the inside. Below you will find the marking "Biological tissue - cat. B"

The envelopes are also available with the addressee or "cash-on-delivery" pre-printed and can be spized up with a color marking in addition to, of course, the mandatory markings in accordance with the ADR regulations.

(3) Transportation container for 4 sample tubes

This transportation container is only used for sending UN no. 2900 and 2814 and follows the IATA/DGR packing instruction 602. After fitting the sample tubes, the transportation container is placed in a shipping box with the correct marking and is ready for shipment.

Cool/freeze shipping of diagnostic samples.

We carry a wide range of cool boxes and customized cardboard boxes.

If you want to send your samples cold or frozen, you must wrap your samples in any of above solutions (transportation box, envelopes or transportation containers) before they are subsequently packed in a cool box which then act as "overpack" and must consequently be marked accordingly.
